I currently live in Fort Smith and will be moving there in the next couple of months. I really enjoyed reading your post and I can say, I know how awful it is living in Arkansas and wanting to learn a foreign language ... besides Spanish. Language and Area Study was one of the choices I was thinking about majoring in. As of current, I think I'm going with International Bussines or Public Relations. My language of choice is Japanese. I will be going this summer to study at a language school for a month with a friend of mine and will continue to study once I return home, at collge.
